FUND ADMINISTRATION & OVERSIGHT

The Ottawa Sooners Player Sponsorship Program is administered in accordance with best practices for amateur sport governance and financial oversight.

Player sponsorship contributions are managed through the Ottawa Sooners Football Foundation and/or the Ottawa Sooners Football Club, depending on the nature and purpose of the contribution.

  • Contributions applied toward a player's seasonal team fees are administered directly by the Ottawa Sooners Football Club as approved cost recovery for participation.
  • Contributions exceeding a player's approved seasonal team fees are allocated toward shared team program expenses, including end-of-season banquet costs, and may be administered through the Ottawa Sooners Football Foundation where appropriate.
  • Sponsorship funds are not paid directly to players and do not constitute income, salary, or personal compensation.
  • All funds are applied solely toward approved football-related expenses in support of program operations and athlete participation.

This structure ensures transparency, accountability, and compliance with league and amateur sport standards.

CJFL & AMATEUR ATHLETICS COMPLIANCE

The Ottawa Sooners Football Club operates within the standards of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) and adheres to accepted principles governing amateur athletic participation.

For the avoidance of doubt:

  • Player sponsorship does not constitute a recruiting inducement.
  • Player sponsorship does not guarantee roster placement, playing time, or on-field role.
  • Player sponsorship does not influence coaching decisions or competitive evaluation.
  • All football decisions remain performance-based and under the sole authority of the coaching staff.

For families, athletes, and supporters evaluating cross-border opportunities, player sponsorship contributions are structured to avoid any form of improper benefit that could affect amateur eligibility or future post-secondary opportunities, including U.S. college or NCAA pathways.

The Ottawa Sooners' sponsorship framework is designed to support participation costs only and to preserve the integrity of amateur competition.

CLARIFICATION FOR INTERNATIONAL & CROSS-BORDER PARTICIPATION

The Ottawa Sooners regularly compete against U.S.-based programs and host international athletes. Player sponsorship contributions are structured solely as program support and cost recovery and are not tied to recruitment, compensation, or competitive advantage.

Athletes remain responsible for ensuring compliance with any future eligibility requirements applicable to their individual academic or athletic pathways. The Ottawa Sooners do not provide compensation, benefits-in-kind, or inducements that would conflict with amateur sport participation standards.
